Who is ready for an adventure?
When the weather starts to change, we can start doing outdoor activities once again. It's that wonderful time when adventure beckons: hiking and camping, road trips and picnics, the lake, watch movies outside and many more memorable destinations await you. Whatever you do for fun and family bonding can be even more enjoyable when you properly plan and bring the essentials this way so we don't get overwhelmed and those around you, making the fun activities not too fun.
Some sample ideas for activities, like hitting the road. It's a thrilling experience for all ages, visiting new places and creating lasting memories. Even if your adventure requires more seatbelt time than your kids might like, there are plenty of ways to combat the complaining.
You already know a simple yet effective way to influence the environment at home: diffuse an oil blend, snacks and scheduling stops to take a bathroom break, do some stretching. Ensuring the journey is just as enjoyable as the destination. So be sure to grab some books, a play list, snacks and your handy transportable diffuser as you head out.
If you’ll be bringing some diffuse blends I’ll recommend to help to calm and soothe or excite and uplift the atmosphere around you. Try out wild orange, wintergreen, peppermint, lavender and ginger. Remember you only need a few drops and I’ll suggest before you leave home to check with everyone that’s going to be riding in the car if they are comfortable with smell or if someone has any allergies.
Another important part when doing new activities whether it is just for the day or on a road trip is to bring good food, drinks to stay hydrated and appropriate supplies go a long way when you're headed outside. Consider trying out this trail mix-the perfect treat when you're on the move giving your traveling troop a simple but tasty snack that anyone can enjoy and can also keep everyone distracted. Also, don’t forget to charge the electronics and bring extra charger or batteries this way no one is trying to use it all at once.
What's an adventure without loved ones to share in it? Trips out the door sometimes can get stressful, especially when we have little ones but it is important to remember and be mindful that those moments can become more memorable when others are involved in the going and in the planning. With the colder or warm seasons depending where you live, sit down with your family to create the ultimate bucket list of activities you want to do together, try beach, state and national parks are excellent starting points and some activities are free or at a reasonable price.
Then, as a particular adventure approaches, distribute out assignments to get everyone involved and invested (and you won’t feel as overwhelmed if you tried doing everything on your own). Besides, preparation also makes for fantastic learning experiences teaching children how to plan ahead and have the essentials on hand, like extra water, snacks, sunblock, chairs, first aid kit, and anything else appropriate to where you're heading and for what you're doing.
Is the time to get out and explore the great outdoors, take a break from electronics and take advantage of the weather, answering the call to adventure with those you love and with whom you want to make the best memories. What are you waiting for? Pack your essentials, hit the road, and enjoy the journey and wonders of the season! Adventures are waiting ahead don’t be afraid that it will be too much to or too stressful to get everyone on board.
